The Toronto Blue Jays are hoping for the best for José Bautista. Perhaps it looks worse than it was, but in last night’s game against the New York Yankees, Bautista took a swing in the eighth inning and apparently sustained tendon damage in his left wrist.
Bautista left the game and initial x-rays were negative.
Bautista is scheduled to have an MRI today to determine the severity of the injury.
Currently, the Blue Jays are 45 – 45 and two games out of a wild-card spot in the American League. Losing an offensive force like Bautista for any significant period of time will make the road to the playoffs much tougher for the Blue Jays.
While it has yet to be determined whether or not Bautista would be added to the DL, he most certainly will miss a number of games.
