For Carl Crawford, and his injuries, the light at the end of the tunnel may very well turn out to be a train. The Boston Red Sox outfielder was pulled from his minor-league game rehab assignment due to a mild left groin strain. Crawford is on his way back to Boston for further evaluation.
Crawford underwent surgery in January to remove cartilage from his left wrist. Then in April he was diagnosed with a sprained: collateral ligament in his left elbow.
Now you can add a groin to that growing list of injuries.
There is no word on how long Crawford will be out, but it’s safe to assume that any timetable that had him returning immediately after the all star break is in jeopardy.
After all, when two thirds of your game, running and throwing, are hampered by injuries, it makes it tough.
Originally, Crawford was scheduled to go the full 20 days on his rehab assignment, with a return scheduled on July 13 against Tampa Bay.
This injury comes at a critical time for the Red Sox who are attempting to climb their way back intention in the American League East. The Red Sox continue their series against the New York Yankees today.
