In his final season the Atlanta Braves’ Chipper Jones is an All-Star one more time . Jones was in the All-Star team today by National League manager Tony LaRussa to replace Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp.
Jones was a leading candidate to be voted onto the team in Final Vote campaign, when it was announced that he would replace Kemp.
“I’m gonna be a kid in a candy store carrying four other kids in a candy store,” Jones said.
Jones is in his final season, having announced his retirement before the season started. He is hitting .291 with six home runs and 29 RBIs. A surefire first ballot Hall of Famer Jones is number three on the all-time list of switch hitters in career home runs with 460, behind Mickey Mantle with 536 and Eddie Murray 504.
Jones been named to the All-Star team may open the door for Washington nationals rookie Bryce Harper to participate in his first All-Star game. The 19-year-old Harper is is a fan favorite in his first year in the major leagues
