BALTIMORE – Jamie Moyer may have some major league baseball left in the tank, but it won’t be with the Baltimore Orioles. The Orioles released the 49-year-old Jamie Moyer at his request. Moyer began the season with the Colorado Rockies and went 2-5 before he was designated for assignment on May 30. Moyer then signed a minor-league deal with the Orioles on June 6. The deal was conditional, in that it was agreed upon that Moyer would make three starts, and then the Orioles what either promote him or release him. Moyer went 1-1 with a 1.69 ERA in those three starts. the Orioles were happy with his progress, however didn’t have room to add into the rotation. “We’re very appreciative of him giving us that opportunity to look,” Baltimore manager Buck Showalter said. “I wouldn’t be surprised to see him pitch for somebody shortly. Personally, just out of respect for his career what he’s done, I hope it happens.” Moyer has a lifetime record of 269-209.
