NL Recaps – Bryce Harper and Nationals Walk Off In Victory

WASHINGTON – Bryce Harper singled to left, Jesus Flores scored and the Washington Nationals rallied to beat the New York Mets in the bottom of the 12th inning for a walkoff victory. the Nationals used eight pitchers in the contest and Ross Detwiler pitched the last two innings for the victory.

MILWAUKEE – It has been a longtime since Ryan Dempster won a game.  Dempster earned his first win since last August, throwing seven innings of three-hit ball as the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers 10-0. he did not allow a baserunner until Cody Ransom singled to lead off the sixth inning. Alfonso Soriano hit a three-run home run, Jeff Baker added a two-run shot and Bryan LaHair hit a solo homer for the Cubs.

MIAMI – Tim Hudson pitched a five-hitter for his 13th career shutout, and he had plenty of run support thanks to DanUggla. The former Marlin totaled four hits and five RBIs, both season highs. The Braves thumped the Miami Marlins 11-0.

HOUSTON – The Houston Astros got to St. Louis starter Jaime Garcia early before holding on for a 9-8 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday night. The Astros scored four runs in the first inning and Maxwell’s homer in the second stretched their lead to 6-1. the two teams combined for 25 hits.

CINCINNATI –  The Pittsburgh Pirates extended their home-run tear by hitting three more for an 8-4 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday night. Neil Walker hit a two-run homer, and Casey McGehee and Alex Presley had solo shots, giving the Pirates seven homers in their last two games.
