Adam LaRoche Homers Twice, Kevin Gausman Struggles in Nats Win

Washington Nationals newsIn his second career start on Tuesday, Baltimore Orioles rookie Kevin Gausman was met with an offensive barrage by the Washington Nationals, led by Adam LaRoche.

Gausman would surrender a total of three home runs in his outing, accounting for each of the seven runs that he allowed. T

he first was a three-run home run to Adam LaRoche in the first inning, followed by a pair in the fourth inning, a two-run blast by Tyler Moore and a solo shot by Roger Bernadina.

In all, Gausman worked four innings, surrendering seven runs on eight hits, while walking one and registering no strikeouts. Following a solid debut against the Toronto Blue Jays last week, Gausman now owns an 0-2 record and 11.00 ERA to start his career.

LaRoche would finish the game 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI. Despite a slow start to the season, LaRoche has warmed up in the month of May, hitting .329 with five home runs and 15 RBI.

The Nationals would tack on two final runs in the eighth inning with a solo home run by LaRoche and an RBI single by Bernadina, en route to a 9-3 victory over the Orioles.

Washington remains second in the NL East standings, 4.5 games back of the division leading Atlanta Braves with a 27-25 record.
