Vladimir Guerrero Released By Blue Jays

Vladimir Guerrero asked for his release and today the Toronto Blue Jays granted his request. Guerrero had signed a minor-league deal with the Blue Jays on May 10 in hopes of getting a call to the big leagues. Guerrero, 37, batted .358 with four homers and 12 RBIs in 12 minor league games with the Blue Jays’ organization. He agreed to a pro-rated deal with a base salary of $1.3 million. ”Toronto informed us that it had no space in the majors for Guerrero, so now we move forward,” said Jesus Alou, one of Guerrero’s representatives. Guerrero has 449 career home runs, 1496 RBIs and a career batting average of .318. Guerrero indicated that he is not ready to retire and will look to catch on with another team.
