MLB Scores: Astros Rough Up Pettitte, A’s Down Angels in 19

pettitte5After losing four games to Boston the Houston Astros found the Bronx more to their liking and pounded  New York Yankees starter Andy Pettitte for seven runs over 4 1/3 innings to beat New York 9-1.The loss snapped the Yankees winning streak at four.

The Astros ended the night with 17 hits against three Yankee pitchers  in improving the AL’s worst record to 8-18. Carlos Corporan had four hits, including a homer, and drove in four runs for Houston.

 American League Scores

 Oakland 10 Los Angeles 8 Brandon Moss hit a two-run homer  in the bottom of the 19th to lift the Athletics to a 10-8 win over the Angels.Albert Pujols homered twice earlier in the game, and finished with four hits and three RBIs. Mark Trumbo also went deep for the Angels and added a two-run double.

 Detroit 4 Minnesota 3 Max Scherzer  struck out 10 and Prince Fielder hit a three-run home run to lead the Detroit Tigers over the Minnesota Twins 4-3

 Cleveland 9 Kansas City 0  Ubaldo Jimenez  turned in his best start of the season with seven scoreless innings and Ryan Raburn hit two home runs with four RBI to lead the Indians to a 9-0  win over the Kansas City Royals

 Seattle 6 Baltimore 2  Joe Saunders gave up four hits, walked one and struck out two for complete-game victory over the Baltimore Orioles.  Michael Saunders homered for the Mariners and Matt Wieters  homered for Baltimore.

 National League Scores

 Miami 4 New York 3 Nick Green hit a game-winning sacrifice fly and Miami rallied for two runs in the 15th inning Monday night to beat the Mets 4-3, but the victory came at a cost as Giancarlo Stanton limped out of the game in the 10th inning with a strained right hamstring.  The game featured a matchup between Mets rookie starter Matt Harvey and Marlins rookie starter Jose Fernandez.

 Chicago 5 San Diego 3 Cody Ransom and Darwin Barney each drove in two runs to help the Cubs to a 5-3 win over the Padres. Jeff Samardzija  struck out eight in five innings and received a no decision. Kevin Gregg earned his fourth save of the season for Chicago.

 Milwaukee 10 Pittsburgh 4 Yovani Gallardo hit his second homer of the season as the Brewers hit back-to-back homers in back-to-back innings to pound the Pirates. Gallardo and Norichika Aoki hit consecutive homers in the fourth before Carlos Gomez and Yuniesky Betancourt repeated the feat in the fifth.

 Cincinnati 2 St. Louis 1 Mat Latos  Extended his scoreless streak to 17 innings and Joey Votto and Xavier Paul  provided the offense and the Cincinnati Reds beat the Cardinals 2-1 .  Aroldis Chapman earned his sixth save of the season for Cincinnati.

San Francisco 6 Arizona 4   Brandon belt delivered a two-run single in the eighth inning and the San Francisco Giants rallied to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 6-4.

 Colorado 12 Los Angeles 2 Nolan Arenado had three hits, including his first major league home run, and Wilin Rosario and Dexter Fowler also homered in the Rockies’ 12-2 win over the Dodgers.
