Yankees – Pettitte Agree to One-Year, $12 Million for 2013
Yankees solidify their rotation for 2013 with Pettitte signing
Today Yankees GM Brian Cashman confirmed that the team and Pettitte agreed to a one-year deal worth $12 million plus incentives.
Nova may compete with David Phelps for the number five spot this spring, however, Phelps was excellent in the Yankees bullpen in 2012. Michael Pineda may be in that mix as well depending on when he is ready to return from injury.
For those who like to keep track, the Yankees do seem to be building their team for 2013 with a measure of financial restraint and guarding multi-year deals very closely this offseason. The team as stated repeatedly its desire to lower payroll $189 million by 2014. So far mission accomplished.
