Anthony Rizzo Slumping Since New Deal

Chicago Cubs newsChicago Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo  signed a new extension worth $41 million earlier this month and at the time was hitting .288/.361/.554 with nine home runs.

Heading into today’s game he is hitting .249/ .312/ .476. He  is 2 for his last 26  .077 with one home run in his last seven games.

Rizzo claims he doesn’t feel any extra pressure with the new deal.

“I don’t know what more pressure I can put on myself,” he said, adding: “That doesn’t matter at all. You think this game will become a lot easier when you get that financial security, but it’s amazing your instincts stay the same. You still get mad when you make outs.

Rizzo seems  to be taking the slump in stride and showed up in the clubhouse Friday with a new  hairstyle. Rizzo  debuted a straightened look as opposed to his traditional curly locks, but went 0 for  5 anyway with a strikeout.
