As expected, the New York Yankees placed outfielder Curtis Granderson on the 15 day disabled list with a fractured finger in his left hand.
Granderson suffered the injury in last night’s game against the Tampa Bay Rays when he was hit by pitch. He is expected to miss up to four weeks.
Granderson started the season on the DL with a fractured forearm suffered in spring training and returned to the lineup May 14. In eight games he has hit .250 with one home run, one RBI and one stolen base.
To replace Granderson on the roster the Yankees recalled Brennan Boesch from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Boesch Hit .209 in 20 games with the Yankees earlier this season prior to being sent down.
