Jackie Bradley Jr. Recalled Will Get Another Chance With Red Sox

Red Sox newsJackie Bradley Jr who started the season with the Boston Red Sox will be recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket and right-hander Alex Wilson will be optioned back to the AAA team.

Bradley struggled at the plate in his first stint with the Sox, batting .097, going 3-for-31 in 12 games, but returned to Triple-A and is now hitting .354 with two home runs, and nine RBI, 15 runs scored and is riding an 12-game hitting streak.

Bradley  will not be used as a starter according to manager John Farrell.

“No, if he were here, he would come back as an extra outfielder,” he said. Bradley  could platoon with Johnny Gomes in left field.

Bradley  was on the disabled list with right biceps tendinitis from May 4-17.

Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino and third baseman Will Middlebrooks are both on track to be activated once their respective stints on the disabled list are up. “Everything’s trending the right way as far as their recovery,” said Farrell, “and we’ll look to get each on a rehab assignment before that.”
