Signing Blanton essentially ends the Angels pursuit of Greinke

As much as the Los Angeles Angels may have wanted to sign Zack Greinke, it would appear that’s not going to happen.

The Angels agreed to terms with free-agent right-hander Joe Blanton on a two-year $15 million deal that on paper, solidifies the Angels rotation for 2013, minus Greinke.

The Angels may pursue another starter, such as Anibal SanchezKyle Lohse or Brandon McCarthy, but Greinke is likely out of the mix.

Blanton went 10-13 with a 4.71 ERA for the Phillies and Dodgers last season
