AL Recaps – Rays Finish Four-Game Sweep of Angels

Tampa Bay Rays newsTampa Bay 8 – Los Angeles 3 – the Tampa Bay rays completed a four-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels with an 8-3 victory in Anaheim. Zack Greinke  fell victim to a suddenly potent Tampa Bay offense giving up six runs and seven hits over six innings in his fifth start for the Angels.

Matt Moore gave up two runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings.

Moore struck out five and walked two. The two runs came on home runs by Mike Trout and Albert Pujols. The Angels tacked on a run in the bottom of the ninth-inning.

Ryan Roberts went 2-for-5 with a two-run homer for Tampa Bay.

Matt Joyce had a two-run double and Carlos Pena had two hits and two RBI.

Other American League Scores

Minnesota 1 – Seattle 5 –  Blake Beavan pitched into the sixth inning holding the twins to one run on seven hits. He struck out three and walked one. Michael Saunders went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer.

Cleveland 0 – Oakland 7 – Jarrod Parker scattered six hits over eight shutout innings in the Athletics beat the Indians 7-0 . Coco Crisp let Oakland offense simply and went 3-for-5 with a home run and five RBI. Brandon Moss went 2-for-4 with a solo home run

Chicago 2 – Kansas City 5 –  Jeremy Guthrie took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, and ended up allowing two unearned runs on three hits in 7 2/3 innings, but was saddled with a no decision. Jose Quintana pitched seven innings for the White Sox, giving up nine hits and two runs while striking out five and walking four. Salvador Perez went 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI for Kansas City

Texas 11 – Toronto 2 Matt Harrison struck out seven and walked one, and allowed two runs in eight innings of work.  Henderson Alvarez  Celtic them to the powerful Rangers offense allowing eight runs and 12 hits in 4 1/3 innings of work. He walked three. Michael Young went 3-for-5 with a home run, double and five RBI. Elvis Andrus went 4-for-6 with a run scored

Baltimore 7 – Detroit 5 – Wei-Yin Chen gave up five runs in the first inning, but then settled down to record his 12th victory of the season. Doug Fister allowed seven runs on eight hits in 3 2/3 innings for the Tigers. Nick Markakis lead Baltimore going 2-for-4 with a double, RBI, two runs scored and a walk. Jhonny Peralta hit a three-run homer for Detroit
