AL Recaps – Athletics Rally Against Orioles – Teams Combine for 31 Hits and 23 Runs

BALTIMORE – The Oakland A’s scored six runs in the ninth-inning to stun the Baltimore Orioles14-9 . The two teams combined for 31 hits and 23 runs, and neither team made an error.

Orioles closer Jim Johnson recorded one out in the ninth-inning, and gave up six earned runs on five hits. It was Johnson’s third blown save opportunity of the season.

Zach Britton who started for the Orioles also gave up six earned runs.

Adam Jones hit his 24th home run of the season in the fifth inning, and Chris Davis added his 17th in the second inning for the Orioles.

Seth Smith had five RBI for Oakland.  The A’s are now 11-2  since the All-Star break and remain one of baseball’s hottest teams.
