Los Angeles 9 – Oakland 9 – Dan Straily surrendered five runs in 4 2/3 innings Ryan Cook recorded his 12th save for the Athletics. Chris Carter went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in the A’s 9-8 win. Zack Greinke gave up four runs in five innings. Kendrys Morales went 3-for-5 with two homers and three RBI
Seattle 2 – Baltimore 9 – Kyle Seager went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer for the Mariners. Matt Wieters doubled twice and drove in five runs for the Orioles. Steve Johnson struck out nine batters in his first major league start for Baltimore.
New York 12 – Detroit 8 – Curtis Granderson hit his 30th home run of the season and had four RBI to help the Yankees out slug Tigers. CC Sabathia (12-3) gave up five runs — three earned — and eight hits while striking out seven over 6 2/3 innings
Kansas City 2 – Chicago 1 – Jeremy Guthrie won his first game since May allowing five hits over eight innings. Solo home runs by Mike Moustakas and Salvador Perez provided all the runs for Kansas City.
