AL Recaps – Rays’ David Price First To 13 Wins in AL

David Price became the American Leagues first 13 game winner.

The Rays pounded out 11 hits, and the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Cleveland Indians 6-0.

Wade Davis pitched the final two innings to complete the team shut out and two-hitter of the Indians.

Luke Scott got the Rays on the board with a solo home run in the third inning.

B.J Upton,  who had three hits on the day, hit a  three run double in the four-run sixth inning for the Rays to pad the lead to 5-0.

Jeff Keppinger made it 6-0 on a seventh-inning run-scoring double.

Matt Joyce who returned to the team this week from the disabled list, was held out of today’s game due to some soreness.

Joyce missed 23 games with a left oblique strain.

Asdrubal Cabrera and Jose Lopez had two hits for the Indians.

Detroit 5  – Los Angeles 1 –  Max Scherzer struck out nine Angels and allowed one earned run through seven innings of work, on three base hits and the Detroit Tigers beat the Los Angeles Angels 5-1. Miguel Cabrera hit his 21st home run for the Tigers.

Mike Trout hit his 14th home run of the season in the sixth inning to account for the lone Angels run.

Minnesota 3 – Baltimore 4Mark Reynolds helped the Baltimore Orioles rally  for a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins with a two-run single in the eighth inning. Wei-Yin Chen turned in a much-needed strong performance tossing seven innings of three-run baseball for the Orioles.

Seattle 6 – Kansas City 1 –  Jesus Montero supplied the offense, driving in four runs and Felix Hernandez pitched brilliantly for eight innings allowing just one earned run in the Seattle Mariners beat the Kansas City Royals 6-1

Boston 3 – Chicago 1Cody Ross hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth-inning and the Red Sox shocked the Chicago White Sox 3-1. Ross was two for four in the game. Clay Buchholz pitched a solid eight innings with no decision.
