Carlos Beltran to Return to Cardinals Lineup

Cardinals  NewsCarlos Beltran has been injured most of the year and suffered shoulder soreness as a setback, but will return to the lineup on Monday. Beltran will serve as the team’s designated hitter while they are in Kansas City and then is expected to return to the Cardinals’ outfield once the Redbirds return home.

Fantasy Play: Beltran will likely DH both games in Kansas City and then return to the outfield for two games at home vs the Royals and then a set with the Giants. It should be Beltran back in right with Jon Jay in center and Matt Holliday in left once things return to normalcy.

Obviously, as a switch-hitter with Beltran’s potential he should be inserted back into the fantasy lineup immediately, especially with the Cardinals presently surging. Jon Jay owners are safe for now, but any struggles and Oscar Taveras could be knocking in AAA as he recovers from his own injuries.
