Ichiro Gets 2500th Hit as Mariners Beat Diamondbacks

PHOENIX – Ichiro Suzuki collected his 2500th career hit and finished the night 4 for 5 with two doubles and two RBI to lead the Seattle mariners to a 12-9 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks. over his 21 year career in the Japanese Pacific League and Major League Baseball Ichiro now has 3781 hits, third behind Pete Rose and Ty Cobb in all of baseball.

Afterwards, Ichiro was a bit philosophical, “If you look at me now and if you look at me when I first got here in 2001, if I said my first day that my goal is to hit 2,500, on that day people would say that I was crazy,” Suzuki said through an interpreter. “Now looking at, things do come true.”
