Atlanta – Ben Sheets pitched into the eighth inning and Jason Heyward backed up that pitching with a home run in the Atlanta Braves cruised to a 6-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. Philadelphia starterVance Worley allowed four runs over just 3 2/3 innings.
Sheets isn’t striking out batters the way he once did, averaging less than a strikeout per game, but has a sparkling 1.13 ERA in five starts this year for the Braves. “You can really tell the experience when he’s on the mound,” Atlanta manager Fredi Gonzalez said. “He just keeps on giving us good outings.”
