San Diego Padres Get Ian Kennedy In Trade With Arizona Diamondbacks

Padres RumorsAccording to MLB.com’s Corey Brock, the San Diego Padres have reached an agreement with the Arizona Diamondbacks in trade that will send statrer Ian Kennedy to the Padres for lefty reliever Joe Thatcher, Double-A reliever Matt Stites, and a compensation round B draft pick.

Kennedy is 3-8 with a 5.23 ERA in 21 starts for the Diamondbacks this season.Thatcher, 31, is 3-1 with a 2.10 ERA in 50 games for the Padres.

The move helps Arizona strengthen its bullpen now and in the future.

Stiles is is 2-2 with a 2.08 ERA and 51 strikeouts and only eight walks in 46 games (52 innings) for Double-A San Antonio this summer. Stites has 14 saves.
