Minnesota Twins outfielder Josh Willingham will undergo an MRI today to check for damage on his injured shoulder, which occurred as he slammed into the left-field fence in a game with the New York Yankees on Monday night. Willingham is listed as day-to-day. With eight games left in the season and the Twins not heading for the playoffs, Willingham’s 2012 season may well be over.

The Twins signed Willingham to a three-year $21 million deal this past off-season and has been a model of consistency for the team. Willingham has hit .260/.366/.524 with 35 home runs and 110 RBI for the Twins. earlier this summer Willingham was the subject of numerous  trade rumors. The stated emphatically and frequently than Willingham would not be traded prior to the deadline.
