AL Recaps – Tigers Get Win Over the Red Sox – Avoid Sweep

BOSTON –  Delmon Young had a home run, three hits,two RBI and scored a run to help the Detroit Tigers avoided a four-game sweep at the hands of the Boston Red Sox 7-3. Boston starter Josh Beckett pitched seven innings but gave up 10 hits and four earned runs. With the loss, Beckett is now 4-5.

Detroit starter Max Scherzer pitched six innings allowed  seven hits and struck out six to earn the victory. the Detroit bullpen did not allow a hit or a run after the sixth inning. J Saltalamacchia homered to right center to give the Red Sox an early lead but Detroit came right back in the third with three runs of their own.
