The rosters for the 2013 Triple-A All Star Game have been announced and some of professional baseball’s finest prospects in the International League (IL) and Pacific Coast League (PCL) will face off on July 17 at Aces Ballpark in Reno, Nevada (home of the Reno Aces, affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in the PCL).
This year’s game features a solid set of the game’s top prospects, as both of the top prospect performers for the past two weeks as determined by BNS, Chris Owings and Grant Green, were selected to represent the PCL.
As per a scouting analysis, Owings has the tools to become an everyday middle infielder and with some work to his plate discipline, he should be able to hit for average and be a solid addition to the Arizona lineup in the near future. As for Green, he is a versatile player at second, bringing decent speed, defense, and offensive ability, while projecting to be an everyday fixture at second and is ready to make the transition to the big leagues.
Castellanos was recently snubbed a spot on the Futures Game roster, but will highlight the field of prospects in Reno. The Tigers prospect is one of, if not the best pure hitter in the minor leagues, as he is able to effectively adjust to different pitches and rake the ball to all fields with ease. He has a strong frame (6-4, 210) and the bat speed to possess above average power at the next level.
Terdoslavich also has solid power potential and good plate discipline, which he compliments with a strong arm that can be utilized at either third or in the outfield. With the progression that he has shown this season, Terdoslavich should see big league action in the near future, as Atlanta may wish to platoon him in the outfield at some point later this season or in early 2014.
As we near two weeks until the big game, we have made available the complete rosters for both the IL and PCL, which are listed below. In addition, we have included a schedule of events that will transpire in Reno leading up to and including the 26th Triple-A All-Star Game.
