Clayton Kershaw Shuts Down Brewers with three-hitter

Los Angeles Dodgers newsWhile much of the talk about the Los Angeles Dodgers centered around Don Mattingly and whether or not he would be keeping his job, Clayton Kershaw went about his business scattering three base hits to lead the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 win over the Milwaukee Brewers.

Ryan Braun managed a pair of singles and Yuniesky Betancourt also singled for the only hits off Kershaw.

Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier backed up the performance with home runs. Yovani Gallardo pitched six innings allowing three runs and struck out seven,  taking his fourth loss of the season for the Brewers.

After being swept in Atlanta over the weekend rumors began circulating about Mattingly being ousted when the team returned home on Thursday.

Los Angeles Dodgers newsGeneral Manager Ned Colletti said his manager is “doing fine” and has kept the team steady despite its last-place showing in the NL West.

The  Dodgers entered the season with a $215 million payroll creating a pressure to win. The Dodgers record is now 18-25
