Red Sox ALCSThe Boston Red Sox continued their charge throughout he post season and beat the Detroit Tigers 5-2 in Game 6 of the ALCS and will represent the American League in the 2013 World Series. Shane Victorino snacked a  grand slam in the bottom of the seventh to give the Red Sox a three-run lead and the Red Sox bullpen took over from there recording the last six out with relative ease

Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz was effective through five innings, but tired in the sixth.  The Red sox will match up against the St Louis Cardinals at home in Games 1 and 2, starting on Wednesday. Had the Tigers held on to win Saturday, they would have been set up well with Justin Verlander ready for a Game 7 Sunday.

“I thought from the first day of spring training on that they felt they had a chance to do something special,” manager John Farrell said when September began.
