Miami 2 – Los Angeles 8 – Adrian Gonzalez hit a home run in his first at-bat as a member of the Dodgers, a three-run blast in the first inning. Andre Ethier added his 14th home run later in the game. Giancarlo Stanton continued his torrid hitting with his 28th home run season for the Marlins. Clayton Kershaw allowed two runs and three hits over eight innings.
San Diego 9 – Arizona 3 – The San Diego Padres used the power of Chase Headley, Carlos Quentin, and Yonder Alonso to lead San Diego over Arizona 9-3. Clayton Richard pitched eight innings of three run ball to earn the win. Aaron Hill homered for the Diamondbacks. Justin Upton had a inside the park home run in the second inning for Arizona.
