Earlier this season New York Yankees ace CC Sabathia missed 18 games with a strained left groin. Sabathia will miss more time, as he was placed on the 15 day DL today with a sore elbow.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi was quick to downplay the news as he told reporters that there is a “low level of concern” over the injury.
Sabathia felt discomfort after his August 3 start against the Mariners, and then again in his August 8 start against the Tigers.
Sabathia is 12-3 this season with a 3.56 ERA over 141.2 innings of work. No corresponding move was announced.
The Bronx Bombers currently hold a six-game advantage over second-place Baltimore in the American League East, and have struggled recently.
