The Washington Nationals All Star Third baseman Ryan Zimmerman has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list. The corresponding move was placing outfielder Jayson Werth on the DL.
Zimmerman has been on the DL since April 21st with a right shoulder injury. He had driven in seven runs in 15 games to that point. “It has been hard the whole time,” Zimmerman said over the weekend. “The team has been playing good. They’ve been winning. … It’s nice to see those other guys step up.”
Werth on the other hand heads to the DL for the first time since 2008. He underwent surgery for a broken wrist on Monday and is expected to be out 10 to 12 weeks.
Werth joins Michael Morse on the DL. Somehow, the Nats have been winning despite injuries and adversity. when they do get healthy they should be quite formidable.
