The Los Angeles Dodgers comfortably ahead in the National League West, the team (86-64) entered Tuesday with a 9½-game lead over the Diamondbacks, plan to take advantage of the lead by resting some of their starters including ace Clayton Kershaw.
Kershaw, 25, sports a majors’ best ERA at 1.94 and leads the National League with 214 strikeouts this season. The left-hander is 14-9 in 31 starts and is a front-runner for the NL Cy Young Award.
Kershaw would have started on Wednesday, but the team has decided to push teh start back to Saturday against the San Diego Padres, giving him and extra three days rest.
