Chicago Cubs reliever Kyuji Fujikawa Is scheduled to make his second rehab appearance for Double-A Tennessee. He will pitch one inning. Fujikawa has been rehabbing from a strained right forearm and struck out two while walking one in one inning of work in his first rehab appearance on Sunday for Iowa.
“If everything goes good again, that should be enough,” Cubs manager Dale Sveum said of Fujikawa’s rehab outings.
Fantasy play: Kevin Gregg has settled down the shaky Cubs closer situation saving four games, pitching to a 0.00 ERA and it’s hard to imagine fixing what isn’t broken, but history suggest Gregg will likely experience some regression at some point and that point may be sooner than later. Fujikawa likely would return to closing, allowing Sveum to use Gregg and James Russell in setup roles.
