The Toronto Blue Jays 8-4 victory over the Kansas City Royals came with the loss of starting shortstop Jose Reyes who had to leave the game in the sixth inning with an apparent sprained left ankle suffered on an awkward slide into second base on a successful steal attempt. Reyes immediately grabbed his ankle and appeared to be in excruciating pain as the Toronto training staff ran onto the field.
Reyes will Being evaluated further today and could miss between 1 to 3 months depending on the results of an MRI. Maicer Izturis will fill-in at least temporarily for the Blue Jays shortstop, although general manager Alex Anthopoulos may explore a trade to give the team or options. Reyes was hitting .395 in 38 at-bats with the Blue Jays
