Profound Medical Corp. (NASDAQ: PROF) Revenue Nearly Doubles

What happened

Profound Medical Corp. (NASDAQ: PROF) expects third-quarter revenue of $9.8 million to $10.0 million, nearly double the $5.3 million reported a year earlier. The preliminary range is also 45% to 47% above the $6.78 million Bloomberg consensus cited by the company.

The company expects gross margin to remain above 70%. Management attributed the increase to more commercial activity across its installed base and new customer accounts, but did not disclose procedure volumes or revenue mix in the update.

Why it matters

At the $9.9 million midpoint, Profound Medical Corp. (NASDAQ: PROF) added $4.6 million of revenue from a year earlier. That incremental amount equals about 46.5% of the quarter's preliminary revenue. For a company trying to turn MRI-guided, incision-free ablation into a repeat hospital procedure, the size of that step matters more than the record label.

The sequential comparison needs context. Reported second-quarter revenue was only $2.5 million, but Profound Medical Corp. (NASDAQ: PROF) said $3.1 million of shipments expected in June moved into July. Adding those shipments back creates a $5.6 million comparison base. Against that figure, the third-quarter midpoint is up about 77%, still strong but far below the reported 292% to 300% sequential increase.

The countercase is that revenue is not cash flow. Profound Medical Corp. (NASDAQ: PROF) used $19.9 million of operating cash during the first half of 2026 and held $38.3 million of cash at June 30. The preliminary update gives no operating-expense, cash-flow or site-utilization data, and the final figures could change.

What's next

Full third-quarter results are scheduled after the market closes on November 5, 2026. Investors should test whether gross margin stayed above 70% and whether operating losses and cash burn narrowed. They should also look for recurring procedure revenue rather than another shipment-timing boost.
