NL Recaps – Carlos Gonzalez and Rockies Ambush Astros Again

DENVER – Carlos Gonzalez became the  first Colorado Rockies player ever to homer in 4 straight plate appearances. He had homered in his last three at-bats last night against the Houston Astros and did so in his first at-bat tonight.  The Rockies hammered the Astros again tonight 11-5. Gonzalez finished the night with three hits and three RBI in three runs scored.

Michael Cuddyer had three hits and three RBIs and two runs scored and together they accounted for much of the offense for the Rockies on the night. Jeremy Guthrie had a typical Coors Field night pitching seven innings and allowing 12 hits and five runs and still got the victory. Astros starter Bud Norris lasted an 1 2/3 innings and gave up nine earned runs and seven hits on 52 pitches.

LOS ANGELES – for most of the year the Los Angeles Dodgers have looked unbeatable especially at home. That all changed when the Milwaukee Brewers came town. Zack Greinke pitched six solid innings and Carlos Gomez and Aramis Ramirez each hit two-run homers to complete a four-game sweep of the Dodgers 6-2. this is the first time a visiting team has swept a four-game series at Chavez Ravine since August of 1993. the Dodgers outhit the Brewers 13-8 but the Dodgers left 11 men on base and could not capitalize on opportunities.
