Why it matters

Net sales rose $0.9 billion from $22.4 billion a year earlier. Organic sales increased 4%, helped by a 2% volume increase and 1% favorable mix. Beauty, Grooming, Health Care, Fabric and Home Care, and Baby, Feminine Family Care all posted organic growth.

OptimistFi's case is that Procter & Gamble turns scale and brand strength into predictable cash flow, dividends and buybacks. This filing supports that view with 93% free cash flow productivity and $3.9 billion returned to shareowners.

The quarter also shows growth under cost pressure. Reported gross margin fell 160 basis points and operating margin fell 70 basis points. Diluted EPS rose 1%, so the quarter was not a clean operating win.

The sales gain still matters because the company kept its organic sales, EPS growth and cash-return guidance in place. It did not reset the core outlook.

What's next

Fiscal 2027 still calls for organic sales growth of 1% to 3%, diluted EPS growth of 1% to 5% and core EPS growth in-line to 3%. The company also expects free cash flow productivity of 85% to 90%, dividends above $10 billion, about $5 billion of share repurchases and a core effective tax rate of 20% to 21%. Results inside those ranges would support the case. Another margin step down would weaken it.
