Chone Figgins worked out at USF Baseball Stadium today in front of scouts as he works his way back to the Major Leagues. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Minnesota Twins were among the teams represented and Tampa Bay Rays skipper Joe Maddon was in attendance.
Figgins and Maddon go back to their Angels days and he would certainly fit into the mold of a reclamation project the Rays seem to have a knack for signing every year.
Figgins took batting practice and infield and outfield drills and ran for the scouts. Figgins, 35 last played in 2012, in 66 games with the Mariners where he had a .181/.262/.272 line.
He had an spring training invite from the Marlins last spring before being released. Figgins would likely have to accept a minor league deal with an invite to spring training at this point
