Los Angeles Angels have reached an agreement with 41-year-old free-agent Raul Ibanez on a one-year deal worth $2.75 million. The deal is incentive laden and could be worth a total of $5 million to Ibanez should those incentives be reached.
Ibanez smacked 29 home runs for the Mariners last season while hitting .242/.306/.487. Interestedly only five of those home runs came in the second half of the season.
The Angels are banking on Ibanez producing like he did in the first half of 2013 and hope Ibanez can help replace some of the power lost by trading Mark Trumbo.
The signing of Ibanez Leaves the Angels approximately $15 million under the hundred and $189 million luxury tax threshold should they choose to make a run at Matt Garza or Masahiro Tanaka.
