The Los Angeles Dodgers have reached and agreement with left-handed reliever J.P. Howell and will re-sign the 30 year old to a two-year, $11.25 million guarantee along with a $6.25 million vesting option for a third year if he pitches 120 innings in the first two season of the deal according to Ken Gurnick of MLB.com.
Howell made $2.55 million last year on a one year deal with Los Angeles. He posted a 2.03 ERA and 2.35 K/BB ratio in 62 innings of work and limited left-handed batters to a slash line of .164/.225/.227.
Over his career, Howell has pitched to a 103 ERA+ and 2.05 K/BB in parts of eight major-league seasons. He rejoins closer Kenley Jansen, setup man Brian Wilson, and middle relievers Paco Rodriguez, Brandon League and Chris Withrow.
