Joe Girardi Stays In New York – Re-signs with Yankees

Yankees NewsIn the end Joe Girardi decided New York really was his kind of town. Girardi has signed a four-year contract to return as the New York Yankees’ manager.

While terms of the deal were not officially disclosed , reports have the deal valued at $16 million dollars over four years. Girardi made $3 million this season.

The Yankees had an 85-77 record this season, his sixth with the team. It marked the second time in Girardi’s tenure that the Yankees did not reach the postseason.

The team won the World Series in 2009 under Girardi.

Speculation was that Girardi would listen to other offers namely, the Chicago Cubs.

His contract would have expired at the end of October and the Yankees have decided Girardi is the best man for the job and we would have to agree.
