The St. Louis Cardinals moved into sole possession of first place in the NL Central for the first time since July 29 after Allen Craig hit his first career grand slam with two out in the seventh inning, helping the Cardinals rally for an 8-6 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
Craig is now 6-for-7 with 15 RBIs in two-out, bases-loaded situations.
Matt Holliday also had a long three-run homer for St. Louis
Zack Cozart had two hits and three RBIs for the Reds, who dropped to 4-9 against St. Louis this season. Jay Bruce hit his 25th homer in the eighth in the loss for Cincinnati.
The Cardinals lead the Pittsburgh Pirates by a half-game and Cincinnati by 3 1/2 games in the National League Central
