The Chicago Cubs have promoted third baseman Kris Bryant, their first pick in the June draft, from short-season Class-A Boise to Class-A Daytona. Bryant was batting .354 with four home runs and 16 RBIs at Boise.
Bryant went 5-for-7 with one double, one triple and three RBIs in a doubleheader Sunday against Vancouver.
He leaves Boise with a 15 game hitting streak, During the hitting streak, Bryant batted .415 (22-for-53).
“We felt Daytona was a place Kris would be able to go and compete in his draft summer once he got enough at-bats under his belt,” Cubs director of scouting Jason McLeod said. “With Daytona being in the playoffs, Kris will get three-plus weeks down there which will be nice.”
Bryant was the Cubs 2013 first-round pick and second overall
