The Texas Rangers have surprised many critics this season. After losing Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli to Free Agency, it was widely assumed, even with the emergence of Jurickson Profar, the lineup would struggle and therefore the team would struggle as well.
As we head into the final week before the trade deadline the Rangers are: 9th in runs, 6th in OPS and 7th in OBP in the AL. Those numbers are good, but not great and it has left the Rangers 56-46 and losers of seven of its last 10 games.
In second place, three games behind the Oakland Athletics in the AL West, and now down to the sixth best record in the AL, the Rangers are also good, but not great.
Texas went out and acquired Matt Garza in a deal with the Cubs, so now full concentration can be turned towards its offense, which may be without Lance Berkman for the rest of the year and could use upgrades in the outfield (less urgent) or at DH (wide open slot).
Here are five players the Rangers should consider acquiring over this final week before the trade deadline.
