In the wake of the Miami Marlins gutting its MLB roster back to “start”, Miami is obviously non-competitive leading to the trade deadline. Though the “Fish” are not in danger of being historically bad, they’re still a good bet for 100 losses and remain a few years away from any serious contention.
Left with Giancarlo Stanton and a bunch of league minimum paychecks, the Marlins are undoubtedly going to continue its “selling” ways at this year’s deadline in the hopes of competing in the next few years.
To their credit, Miami has probably done better than expected this season and its farm system once again looks promising. Young, future core players like, Jose Fernandez, Jacob Turner and Marcell Ozuna have already emerged to varying degrees and Miami hopes more will come up each season. Those players are likely off limits, even for the Marlins, but here are five players who should be considered trade bait:
