The Seattle Mariners enter the final few weeks before the trade deadline hopelessly out of playoff contention but in perhaps the best position to maximize value as sellers.
Make no mistake, this Mariners team is not going to make any noise in 2013 and its deep farm system of pitching prospects are still adjusting its way into major league uniforms, but Seattle could be the most relevant team come late July.
At 30-40, Seattle faces no pressure to convince its fans it’s playing to win with a 10.5 game hole from any wildcard spot and sitting a full 13.5 games out of first place in the West.
