Cincinnati Reds Homer Bailey No-Hits San Francisco Giants

Cincinnati Reds newsCincinnati Reds right-hander Homer Bailey threw his second no-hitter in the past 10 months and the first in the major leagues this season in a 3-0 when over the San Francisco Giants.

Bailey (5-6) became the third Reds pitcher with more than one no-hitter, joining Jim Maloney and Johnny Vander Meer.

Bailey took a  perfect game into the seventh inning and walked Gregor Blanco. He would be the only Giants hitter to reach base.

“Every dog has its day twice, I guess,” Bailey said. “It felt good to do it front of the Cincinnati fans.”

Joey Votto  hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first to score Shin-S00 Choo,  and Brandon Phillips added a two-run home run in the sixth to give Bailey all the run support that would be needed.

The Reds are now 48-36 and four games back of the division leading Pittsburgh Pirates.
