Wei-Yin Chen To The DL, Jair Jurrjens Called Up For Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles placed left-hander Wei-Yin Chen  on the 15 day disabled list with the right oblique strain.

In  his last start chanting left after five shutout innings with the pain in his right side.  he was evaluated and an MRI revealed the strain.

Chen, who is 3-3 with a 3.04 ERA Becomes a second member of the Orioles starting rotation to go on the disabled list in the past week.

Miguel Gonzalez  was placed on the DL last Thursday with a slow healing blister on his thumb.

Jair Jurrjens will be called up and make his Orioles debut against Tampa Bay Saturday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg.

Jurrjens made eight starts with AAA Norfolk  and pitch to a 3.14 ERA in just over 51 innings. Jurrjens  Signed a minor-league deal with the Orioles over the winter with the stipulation that if he was not called up by June 15  he could opt out of the deal and become a free agent.

Baltimore Orioles Fantasy News:  It’s probably best to watch Jurrjens  for a start or two as he gets acclimated to the American League.  Gonzalez is  targeting a rehab start this weekend according to Brittany Ghiroli. Yamaico Navarro was recalled form Norfolk where he was hitting .303 with a .395 on-base percentage for the Tides in 34 games.
