Toronto Blue Jays pitcher J.A.Happ was struck in the head by a line drive from outfielder Desmond Jennings in the second inning and left the field on a stretcher. Happ could be seen waving his hands as he was immobilized. The ball caromed down the right-field line for a triple.
Medical staff from both teams attended to Happ as fans and players watched in stunned silence. Happ remained on the ground for 11 minutes before being stretchered off to a standing ovation. The video below shows Happ took the line drive flush near the ear and temple.
Jennings ended up with a triple and two runs scored on the play. Right-hander Brad Lincoln replaced Happ for Toronto and allowed an RBI single to Ryan Roberts.
