Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton Placed On The DL

Marlins NewsAs expected, Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring  sustained last night trying to beat out an infield tapper in the 10th inning in Monday’s game against the New York Mets. Stanton’s bat was coming to life after three home runs against the Chicago Cubs this past weekend. See Video Below.

The Marlins are the only team in the majors averaging fewer than three runs a game, and Stanton’s three homers still are one quarter of the lowest team total in the big leagues. Miami ranks dead last among MLB teams with 2.78 runs per game and no other team has averaged fewer than 3.25.

The Marlins will call up prospect Marcell Ozuna from Double-A to take Stanton’s place on the roster and in the outfield. Ozuna has played a total of 10 games above A ball.
