NL Scores: Braves Keep Rolling, Brewers Beat Giants, Dodgers Lose Again

bravesAt this point the Atlanta Braves can do no wrong. Justin UptonJason Heyward and Dan Uggla homered in the eighth inning, and Juan Francisco hit a pair of solo shots earlier in the game to help the Braves win their 10th straight with a 6-3 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

The  Braves 10 game winning streak  is the longest since the team won 15 straight in the 2000season.  Royals starter Jeremy Guthrie pitched well allowing two earned runs in seven innings of work. He struck out six. Braves starter Kris Medlen  pitched seven innings of his own allowing just one earned run and striking out five. He did not walk a batter.

”It’s fun when you can do that,” Upton said. ”But our goal is to go out and play good baseball every night, pitch well, play good defense, put together good at-bats and we’ve been able to do that so far.”

Milwaukee 10 San Francisco 8  Barry Zito said he felt better in his third start of the season than in the previous two.  The Milwaukee Brewers  thought he looked just fine as they tagged the veteran lefty for nine runs and then went on to hold off the Giants  at home with a 10-8 win. Yuniesky Betancourt hit a grand slam, and Carlos Gomez and Norichika Aoki also homered  for the Brewers.

 San Diego 9 Los Angeles 2 Jason Marquis  pitched into the eighth inning allowing three hits to earn his first win of the season and Alexi Amaristatied a career high with four RBIs, leading the Padres to a 9-2 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers. The loss for the Dodgers was the third in a row.

Colorado 8 New York 4 –  Carlos Gonzalez homered and tripled, Todd Helton hit a go-ahead single and theColorado Rockies beat the New York Mets 8-4 in the opening game of a doubleheader.

 Colorado  9 New York 8 With two outs in the tenth inning, Jordan Pacheco singled to right to drive in the game-winning run for the Rockies and the sweep of a  day night doubleheader with the New York Mets.

 Philadelphia 0 Cincinnati 0  Philadelphia Phillies in Cincinnati Reds had their game suspended due to rain in the ninth-inning and will be resumed Wednesday at 5:30 PM Eastern time.

 Miami 8 Washington 2  The Miami Marlins roughed up  Washington starter Dan Haren  for seven runs,  only three  earned to beat the Nationals 8-2.
