Cleveland Indians to Place Michael Bourn On DL

Cleveland Indians newsMichael Bourn lacerated finger required five stitches and although ‘s status is listed as day-to-day  manager Terry Francona expects Bourn to go on the 15 day DL within the next few days.  Bourn suffered the injury on Sunday during a head-first slide into first in the eighth-inning.

The Indians may want to wait to make a corresponding move with lefty Scott Kazmir who is rehabbing in Triple-A Columbus. Kazmir could take Bourn’s spot on the roster.With Bourn out, the Indians can play Drew Stubbs in center and Nick Swisher in right field, allowing them to use either Mark Reynolds or Jason Giambi at first base.

Bourn  is hitting .333  with two RBI,  both on home runs and seven runs scored  so far this season. Bourn  Should be able to return to the team as soon as he is eligible.
